Dear Friends,
Mahrishi Valmiki was a great Sanskrit poet
and wrote the famous Hindu epic – the Ramayana. Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated
to mark the birthday of the poet who is considered the Ai Kavi or the first
poet and contributed a lot in the social life of India through his social
philosophy. The festival falls on the day of the full moon in the month of
Ashwina, between September and October. This year it is celebrated on 18th
October, 2013. On this occasion we are releasing the IIIrd online lecture of
our Lecture -Series.
The 150th birth anniversary of Swami
Vivekananda (12 January, 2013) was celebrated all over India and in different
countries of the world. Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports of India decided
to observe 2013 as the year of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Year-long events and programs were organised by different branches of
Ramakrishna Math, Ramakrishna Mission, central government and different state
governments of India, education institutions, youth groups etc. In this
continuation several initiatives were taken by the Centre for Positive
Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Studies (CPPIS) Pehowa (Kurushetra). First we published a
book “Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda” in 2012 and then created its online
version in January, 2013. One part of our book “Contemporary Indian Philosophy”
published in 2013 was dedicated on Swami Vivekananda. A special issue of
Value-Education of Milestone Education Review released this year. This lecture
adds another volume in CPPIS’s contributed to this great occasion.
